Chiropractic Vision and the Future
What can one say about the behemoth innate juggernaut that
is health through Chiropractic, and the role that we will play in the future?
How about I talk about Chiropractic and the management of low back and neck
pain?
..Nahh, didn't think so!!
Or I could talk about the exciting, yet frustrating life as a Chiropractic student, but I'm sure you're all pretty well enlightened on that already.
I know. I could talk about Chiropractic and the adjustment of subluxations for the prevention and removal of diseased states in the body for the overall health of the individual. No wait. Make that the overall health of individuals, their families, their fiends, their co-workers, their teammates, their business partners, their employees, their neighbours, and their neighbours' neighbour. Oh, and I can't forget their community, their society, their state, their nation, their race, their humanity, and their world!
Or maybe I'll take it a step further and talk about the metaphysical interaction between two beings when a patient comes to see you, where your energies combine and your intentions are powerful enough to change the vibration of that individual so they can better move from a state of impairment to a state of ideal function and existence, which in turn, allows that person to better understand and enjoy their place in the universe .but that could be a pretty long talk!
So with that, lets us talk about this intent and the power it has. Intent is a concept that I've noted has been tossed around Chiropractic with both positive and negative opinions. Many here would agree that without the power of intent behind you, you would not succeed and feel fulfilled in practice. Of this I am not totally aware because I am but a lowly third year Chiropractic student, and I'm so wet behind the ears that I snorkel around class!! I have not yet experienced this power of intent in the doctor/patient relationship, but is this the setting where the power and use of intent begins and ends? I believe it would be pretty simple minded to think so.
So what if I told you that your intent is most important in all areas of your life, because it creates everything around you? Your intentions create your thoughts, your thoughts create your actions, and your actions create your world.
As both students and Chiropractors we must maintain that any adjustment a person receives will better allow their nervous system to function, despite any illness or any state of dis-ease. We must maintain this knowingness no matter what we encounter, what we experience, what we are taught, and what we are told. It has been this steadfast attitude, combined with such loving intent, that has allowed Chiropractic to survive and thrive to where it is today.
This past year my belief in the power of Chiropractic was
first challenged, then strengthened. I met an individual who suffered a very
debilitating condition, which in school we are told, plain and simple, "does
not respond to Chiropractic treatment." Well at first I was unsure then
I did what any Chiropractor would do, I ignored what I had been told, and referred
this person to an amazing Chiropractor.
What I was taught was right. The condition did not respond to Chiropractic,
but the individual did. This person's nervous system responded and created a
never before experienced state of health. So much so that the entire family
is now under Chiropractic care, and I believe the world is better off because
of it.
And where did this all begin? Not in a Chiropractic office, not in an adjusting
room, but rather in the mind with that initial intent that this person can,
and will benefit from Chiropractic. Without this beginning, all else is left
to chance.
This intention to help other is of course not unique to
Chiropractic. It is present in any person who wants to make a difference on
the world. And is there a more noble and selfless experience one can have in
their lifetime than that of making the world a better place, and enriching the
lives of anyone in it? And is there a more fortunate profession than Chiropractic
to do this? Many people take the steps to change the world everyday, and many
do so outside of their career, and on their own time. However, as Chiropractors
we are fortune enough to have a career that not only allows us to survive in
the world, but also gives us the opportunity to impact the world for the better
every singe day, with each adjustment.
This must be our focus in practice because there is great power here, and with
this power you cannot fail. There is but one outcome when you commit to bettering
the world. You will succeed because the truth is just that. It is impossible
to imagine someone who sets out to help the world in some way, on any scale,
and doesn't achieve a positive outcome. So I encourage every student, CA, and
Chiropractor not to focus on a career to make a living, but rather on a career
that allows people to live fully. If you always keep this in mind as your primary
intention you can do nothing else but achieve both success and extreme satisfaction
in your lives.
Thank you.
