MY HUGE VISION
Bridie Cullinane

Last year I was lucky enough to be able to spend some time with one of the most incredible chiropractic families that I've met to date.

One day I was out working with the mother of the family and she told me a story about something that her children had said. That morning her four-year-old daughter had woken up with a fever and the response of her six-year-old son was to say "Congratulations! Your body is so clever to grow a fever…you're cooking those germs!"

The reason that I told you this story is that it illustrates perfectly what I want for chiropractic. My vision is that everyone will share this same appreciation of their body, that they'll understand that their body has an unlimited capacity to heal and that in order to do this it's essential that your nervous system functions at 100%.

So the question that I have for you is: if we don't give our community this message, who will?

It's no longer acceptable for us to sit back and wait for other health professionals to educate our community on chiropractic, and then be continually disheartened at how little they understand about our profession.

The best person to tell your community about what you do, is you.

If we're going to fly this plane, we have to at least be sitting at the controls.

This is something that we can all get involved in, because there's no limit to the number of ways that you can educate your community, therefore there's no excuse for not doing it.

My vision is not about trying to convince every member of the community that they need chiropractic care. It's about educating people so that they're more empowered to make better decisions regarding their health and the health of their children.

In the time that I've been a chiropractic student I've been told about countless chiropractic miracles. Some of these have been shared at seminars like DG, and some in unguarded conversations with other chiropractors. I wonder how many of these stories ever get shared with your community, because these are the stories that inspire me to be a better chiropractor, to tell more people about chiropractic, and also to be a better patient myself. These are the stories that your community needs to be hearing about every single day.

So I guess my vision isn't really just a vision for chiropractic, it's more of a vision for the world, because the people that benefit most from what we do are the people that we lay our hands on every single day. Can you imagine that there are still people in your community and maybe even in your practice who still think that chiropractic is just about back pain and headaches? How much are they missing out on because we're failing to educate them?
We have an awesome gift!

Do the world a favour and share it!
