My Path Into Chiropractic
& My Vision For The Future
My path into chiropractic and my vision for this great profession began several
years ago. I was sitting in the office of my first real job since graduating
from my medical science degree, where I found myself thinking "Is this
going to be it for the rest of my life?"
At this point I knew the path I was on was a temporary one and I had to get
out and do something to find the path that was waiting for me, one that would
be fulfilling.
I always had chiropractic in the back of my mind, especially from the time that
I saw my mother return to health and get over the pain and depression that was
afflicting her. To this day I thank a wonderfull man and mentor, Dr Stephen
Esposito, with those caring hands, he gave us back our mother. This was the
catalyst that made me want to follow this dynamic path.
Our profession is like no other, It blows my mind when I think of the potential
we have and I havent even started out there in the real world. I think the biggest
responsibility we have is to make every time we touch a patient it must count.
When we deliver our our specific adjustment to correct a subluxation it is not
just a mechanical process of moving vertebrae, but a gift from deep within us
that we share with each and every patient.
You know and I know all about the gift of chiropractic, but we must eductae
our patients to beleive and trust in chiropractic. Just as Dr C.J Mertz has
repeated on several occassions we must make all our patients chiropractic philosophers.
It is only then that all of our visions for chiropractic will be realised.
My vision for the future of chiropractic on this planet is that people will
recognise us as people who initiate the miracle of self healing and the maintenance
of well being. I also want people to realise that our compassion, love for life
and love for each other as equal human beings is the essential back bone that
we all posses and is what is behind every chiropractic adjustment.
At that split second in time when delivering the adjustment, it is not just
about the lock up and the line of drive but it is about becoming one with the
person and feel what they feel, only then can we have an impact on their lives
and the impact DD Palmer would have wanted for every single one of us to have.
This is my vision, this is your vision, this is our vision for the future of
chiropractic and its prosperity in the new millenium.
