Love
it!
Love it!
With the Events of the world since Christmas time it has become very clear that
the universe is trying to tell us something. The World has been forced to be
more compassionate, to give generously and to share love with one another. People
have changed the way that they think and have learnt not to take life for granted
but to have a deeper understanding that we must make the most of life and love
it because at any second it can all be swept away.
The Chiropractic profession has a
unique gift of love that resonates within it. No other profession shares a bond
as strong or as passionate as chiropractic. A bond between patients, between
doctors, between doctors and patients, between patients and C.A.'s and also
a bond with Chiropractic students. One of the most overwhelming things as a
student entering into the Chiropractic profession was the generosity of fellow
Chiropractors and C.A.'s. Before even being accepted into the course so many
Chiropractors were willing to welcome me into their practice to spend time with
them and learn from them. These experiences have been more beneficial than what
any textbook could teach anyone. To all of you here that haven't yet given this
gift or opportunity to students please do so. For me I have been inspired by
watching so many of you and learnt so much about practicing and the running
of a practice from seeing it first hand. We all have the power to change lives.
Some of you have changed my life and taught me priceless information that will
help me to be the best Chiropractor I can be. They say; "Give a man a fish
and he can eat for a day
teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime."
The same applies to Chiropractic. By giving someone and adjustment you can effect
them for a day but by teaching someone about Chiropractic and Chiropractic philosophy
you can effect them for a lifetime. It is most important that as a student you
understand the meaning and the power of Chiropractic because it is this that
becomes your driving force for practice and for the future.
It is becoming clearer that the next
generation of people are entering a new and exciting era of health care. Younger
people are actually beginning to understand the importance of caring for their
health and it is much easier to reinforce this to the younger generation than
to try and re-educate an older mind. Recently my mother and I overheard a funny
conversation between four little old ladies and a coffee shop. They were discussing
one of the ladies visits to her Chiropractor earlier that day. One of the old
ladies asked her friends what a Chiropractor was. One of the friends replied
'it is someone that crunches your bones'. The next little old lady, thinking
she was very intelligent, was quick to correct her by saying ' No no, a Chiropractor
is like a gynecologist!' By this stage everyone in the café was listening
and laughing. But then the forth little old lady, who had been for her adjustment
earlier that morning said 'My Chiropractor is the person who keeps me healthy
and I wouldn't still be here if it wasn't for him.' It's a pretty special thing
for someone to actually credit their life to you. I'm sure most of us here will
strive to hear those words
if you haven't heard them already.
It is such a joy to be part of a
profession that is able to give so much to all ages of the community and have
such a profound effect on humanity. Events like Dynamic Growth show that the
dedication and love for Chiropractic is phenomenal. For my self, it is events
like these that lead me through another year of study and inspire me to create
and build my visions and dreams. It is of such importance that we all live inspired
lives because it is inspiration that wakes us in the morning and love that gives
us appreciation for life to go on. So whatever it is that you love, whether
it is Chiropractic or dance or flying or whatever, love it and be fulfilled
by it. And I quote, "Life is not measured by the number for breaths you
take but by the number of moments that take your breath away". And by filling
your life with love and with Chiropractic there will undoubtedly be many moments
that will take your breath away.
