WHY SPINAL IMAGING? A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
If
you are going to adjust the patient's spine then you
need to use every available means to understand as much
about that spine as possible. Spinal radiographs allow
us to identify many abnormal variants, genetic abnormalities,
active disease processes, degenerative joint disease,
postural patterns, aberrant biomechanical states, and
, depending upon your technique analysis, areas of subluxation.
Apart
from the diagnostic benefits, spinal imaging makes sense
for medico-legal reasons. Once the patient has viewed
their own x-rays and a simple explanation is given to
them about their own personal spinal structure then
the patient can make a far more informed decision about
the schedule of care that has been recommended.
Bill Esteb - chiropractic
advocate says, "Today's patient grew up on television,
the spoken word has little lasting impact. A well-chosen
picture can be worth a thousand words."
